The International Horse Agility Club Partners with BARTA to Support Equine Welfare and Emergency Response

The International Horse Agility Club is proud to announce a new partnership with BARTA – the British Animal Rescue and Trauma Care Association, reinforcing our shared values of equine safety, education, and welfare.

Through our Rosette Amnesty initiative, we are donating funds in support of BARTA’s essential work. This IHAC initiative gives members the option to opt out of receiving rosettes, and for every rosette not requested, the club donates the cost of that rosette to the Rosette Amnesty Fund. This fund has historically supported charitable, community interest and not for profit organisations that provide education and advancement within the equine sector—and we are proud to dedicate those donations to BARTA.

Who Are BARTA, and Why Is Their Work So Important?

BARTA (British Animal Rescue and Trauma Care Association) plays a vital and unique role in animal welfare by offering training and best practice for first responders worldwide for emergencies involving all animals.

They provide

Specialist training and practical guidance for emergency responders—such as fire and rescue services, vets, and police—on how to safely manage animals in high-stress or life-threatening situations.

National protocols and best-practice resources that ensure animal rescues are carried out safely, humanely, and with minimal distress to animals and people alike.

Collaboration between emergency services and animal professionals, ensuring everyone involved in a rescue or emergency has the skills and understanding needed to work safely with horses and other animals.

Educational outreach to improve public awareness of animal behaviour and welfare during emergencies.

BARTA’s Global Reach

Although BARTA is based in the UK, its work extends far beyond national borders. The association shares its expertise and training internationally, influencing animal rescue practices and emergency response standards across the globe.

BARTA’s training and protocols have been recognised and adopted in countries including:

Australia, New Zealand, The United States, Canada & Europe

Their global partnerships help raise the standard of animal rescue worldwide, making BARTA’s work especially meaningful to our community.
