Educators Cup

The Educators Cup launches this year as a dedicated opportunity for equine education providers to showcase their students’ skills and development. Open to riding schools, schools, colleges, universities, and equine-facilitated learning venues, the Educators Cup welcomes any organisation delivering equine education within their community.

Running from 1st May to 30th June, the competition consists of a 10-obstacle course alongside a leading test. Each student is assessed individually, receiving a feedback sheet, certificate, and rosette in recognition of their performance. Scores from each participant are combined to create an overall average for their venue, with the highest-performing location crowned Educators Cup Champions for the year.

Is there an age limit for students?

There is no set age limit. Participants of any age are welcome, although it is recommended that children are at least 6 years old to take part.

Is it acceptable to amend obstacles or pace if needed?

Yes. Obstacles and pace can be adjusted where necessary to suit the ability of the horse and handler. Adapting the setup to support individual skill levels is encouraged as it puts the equine first. Marks will be deducted for changes however a good decision in favor of the horse can carry full horsemanship marks

What is the cost?

It costs £7 per student to take part in the Educators Cup. This is payable by the Educator provider as a whole for all students. Invoice or payment link can be provided.

Do I need to be a member of IHAC?

No. This event is open to non members. It is not a requirement for the education provider or students to be a member

What does the student receive?

There is a participation certificate and rosette to each student who submits a class entry. A feedback sheet (and certificates and rosettes) will be provided to the education provider to distribute to students once the entries have been marked.

Do I need Horse Agility Experience?

No, this is a beginner friendly course designed for handlers new to the sport. We have provided an example recording to help visually with how it should look. It does not need to be perfect. Your kindness and response to your equines behaviour is half of your marks and the other half is how you completed the obstacle.

Who wins the Educators Cup?

The Educators Cup trophy will be awarded to the education provider whose students collectively score the highest average score for the year.
