Zyta’s Legacy
Horse Agility Accredited Trainer, Saskia De Clercq, has written the following in memory of her dear friend
“She had a beautiful mind of her own, a powerful strong will and an attitude that said: bring it on! An utterly unique horse. Many called her stubborn, bad-tempered and hard to handle. We called her Queen Z. If you treated her that way, she gave you everything she had to offer.
Her Agility journey started on a beautiful winters day, when Zyta decided to bolt to the right whilst I planned on going straight forward. Call it Haflinger humour 😉
The saddle was put away and we entered the magical world of Horse Agility because riding was off the table. We danced our way through the levels Advanced 1* and Liberty Gold with pure joy.
After 2 years, we created such a strong connection and mutual trust that the saddle was dusted off and we had a taste of Equagility. Zyta just LOVED figuring out obstacles and the mental challenges they brought. She was always the one throwing a tantrum whilst waiting for her playground to open.
Zyta showed her love for Agility live in Belgium and the Netherlands.She was known as “the Haflinger with the floppy ears who loved her obstacles” and created so many smiles. She gave people and horses new hopes, dreams and inspiration. There is so much to do when riding isn’t an option. When you’re not a team yet, Horse Agility helps you to become one.
Zyta is, and always will be, the definition of hopes and dreams.
She passed away suddenly in March 2023. – Let’s keep her legacy alive”
This is a limited-edition award for 2026 and rewards consistency in training. Every Team (Member plus equine) who enters one class per month for all 12 months of 2026 will receive both a virtual badge for their profile and a beautiful rosette in Zyta’s colours. All classes count, including Summer of Sport, Young Horse and Junior.
We had 85 wonderful pairings achieve the 2025 award – Desi’s Spirit Dances. Let’s make it even more in 2026!
